Life in the Heart of downtown Nelson

37 years since its humble beginning and after several years of searching, the Kootenay Co-op has finally found a new home. As of June 1st the Co-op took possession of the property previously occupied by Extra Foods, including the entire parking area that runs from Baker to Vernon.

Development of this site has enormous implications for the city of Nelson and the region as a whole. The Co-op must decide how best to optimize this crucial downtown property—not only as a food store—but incorporating all the possibilities that will benefit the community.

To that end we are exploring the viability of a comprehensive development that would include residential units, additional commercial space and a public civic space. WE NEED YOUR INPUT!
