The Kootenay Co-op is run by a Board of Directors elected by the members at an Annual General Meeting each year in the fall. Elections are for a two-year term. One Board member is an Employee Director elected by the staff.

The Board hires a General Manager, who is responsible for the day to day operation of the store, and together with the Department Coordinators, hire and train the Co-op staff.

Membership is open to everyone, upon application and purchase of shares. Members are encouraged to take part in the on-going democratic process at the Co-op by attending and voting at the AGM.  Standing for election to the Board of Directors is an excellent way to get involved! Besides being part owner in a thriving, democratic business, members have numerous ongoing discount opportunities as part of a membership benefit package.

Interested members are encouraged to talk to the General Manager, or one of the Board members, if you have time, energy, and skills that may be of benefit to the Co-op.
