December 2019 Community Grants

The Kootenay Co-op Community Giving Committee is proud to announce the recipients of this quarter’s community grants! The Grants are funded by spare change in the café donation jars. Lots of small donations add up to big gains for our community!

Freedom Quest Youth Services

Freedom Quest has been awarded a grant for their Food for Thought initiative which offers food and a caring ear for youth in the Substance Use Counselling program.

WE Graham Community Service Society

W.E. Graham will receive funding for their monthly Senior’s Lunch, which offers delicious and nutritious food as well as much-needed social opportunity for seniors in the Slocan Valley.

Rosemont Community Kitchen

Rosemont Community Kitchen at Ascension Lutheran Church has been chosen as a Grant recipient for their Parent and Tot Cooking Classes, where Rosemont parents with small children can come together to learn about healthy, economical and kid-friendly meal planning!

Nelson Community Food Centre

NCFC‘s Good Food Bank Demonstrations will also receive a grant. This program features live cooking demos during food bank hours along with prepared food samples and recipe cards with ideas on how to use that week’s offerings.
