Q: Who are you and what is your role?
I’m Lucy, and besides being a biking and cold-water enthusiast, I work in the kitchen and at the front end.
Q: Where are you from?
Nelson-born and-raised. First steps in the mountains, first swim in our chilly west arm.
Q: What’s your background?
Well, born here and for 8 years I went to a more alternative elementary and middle school called Wildflower. To this experience and teachings I attribute all of my people skills as well as creativity, lust for knowledge and appreciation for unconventional teaching methods. I also went to Germany for grade 11 and picked up the very practical skill of the German language… okay practical perhaps not, but interesting yes!
Q: What do you like most about working at the Co-op?
I know this has been said before but the overall positive and easy going attitude of the staff at large. As well as just getting to be surrounded by such beautiful and cared-for products. I also truly appreciate how much the co-op contributes to
Q: What are your favourite products?
The Patè Campagnard is incredible for any cold plate or snack occasion, plus it’s made right here in Nelson and I think it’s incredible to be able to support local suppliers. The Barbara’s Jalapeño Cheez Puffs are to die for when you are craving a cheesy crunch. They are great for beach days! The Caprano goat cheese is oh-so-fantastic for pairing with apples, pears and nectarines, a perfect mild cheese for the summer days.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
I feel like I’m preaching to the choir here, but eat local, slow down, enjoy every bite and be thankful we get to call this place our home!
