Where are you located?
What do you make?
Natural healthy nourishing personal care products with purpose, including my Shampoo and Conditioner Bars, which are available at the Kootenay Co-op!
How would you describe your company?
I am the sole proprietor of B-Nourished, a grassroots business that I created to provide wholesome, high quality, healthy personal care products. All of my products are made in small batches without petrochemicals, sulphates, harmful chemicals or synthetic fragrances. I use only coconut-derived sulphate-free surfacants in the shampoo bars and glutamansi in the soap-free facial cleanser. All of the cold-processed soap that I create is made to be gentle and moisturizing on our skin. The shampoo and conditioner bars are made to cleanse but also to restore balance to our scalp and hair, to condition and nourish, and to be safe and beneficial for all hair types. Everything is carefully created with the highest attention to detail and with wholesome formulations and quality ingredients.
How long have you been in business?
I have been formulating for two years, but I just began the business in September 2019.
What motivated you to start?
I am a certified herbal practitioner and find joy in making personal care products that are beautiful, healthy and effective. When I started getting feedback about the quality of my products, I was excited to know that the care and attention I put into the formulations really benefit others. This gave me the passion and joy to continue on a bigger level and build a gentle business. I want my business to be a wonderful example for my daughter: modelling self-sustainability, starting from nothing and building something beautiful with our hands, benefiting others, and leaving as small of a footprint as possible for generations to come.
What are some of your greatest joys?
Producing and perfecting spectacular and purposeful personal care products with wholesome ingredients that nourish and help our bodies.
What are some of your greatest challenges?
At the moment, one of my greatest challenges is making my products look wonderful on store shelves and finding packaging that matches my values and reflects the quality of the product inside.
What is your vision for your company?
My vision for B-Nourished is to grow organically and help as many people as I possibly can with healthy natural products. I hope to bring the same joy to customers that I receive from making the products. I would love to see many satisfied happy customers who feel great in their own skin, free of toxins and harsh chemicals.
Why is local food and/or local purchasing important to you?
Buying local helps build community and a sustainable flourishing economy. It supports families who work with their hands laboring in love, it helps single mommas find hope in building a healthy sustainable future for their children, and it builds confidence and self-esteem.
If you could deliver a message directly to Co-op members/customers, what would it be?
