Winter Tea Remedies
Using a combination of our many bulk herbs and spices the tea options are endless. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Mighty Immune Tea
Ingredients
1 part elderberries
2 parts rose hips
2 parts echinacea root
2 parts chamomile flowers
2 parts astragalus root
Place in 1L canning jar, pour hot water over, cover and steep for up to 8 hours. Drink 2-3 cups/day during cold and flu season as an immune tonic or as needed.
Cough Soothe Tea
Ingredients
2 tbsps grated fresh organic lemon rinds
2-3 tbsp dried sage
1-2 tbsp thyme
Place in 1L canning jar, pour hot water over, cover and steep for ideally 4 hours. Strain tea. Warm one cup at a time, add juice of 1/2 lemon and 1 tablespoon honey. Drink 2-3 cups/day as a cough remedy.
‘Kick-Out the Funk’ Tea
This powerhouse remedy has many ingredients known to be beneficial against many viruses and bacteria. Head over to the produce department for the main ingredients in this recipe. Drink at the first sign of a cold or flu, all the way through to the cessation of symptoms.
Ingredients
1 pound of fresh ginger
2 lemons (peeled and seeded)
A dash of Cayenne pepper
Optional: 2 fingers of fresh Turmeric (or 1tsp dried) and 1 tablespoon honey
Juice ginger, lemons, and turmeric (if using fresh) add 3-4 ounces of the juice to a large mug, add honey and a dash of cayenne. And enjoy the intensity!
Bedtime Tea
Ingredients
2 Tbsp lemon balm
2 Tbsp peppermint
1 Tbsp fennel seeds
1 Tbsp rose petals
2 tsp lavender flowers
1 Tbsp licorice root pieces
Optional: honey to sweeten.
Place in 1L canning jar, pour hot water over, cover and steep for ideally 4 hours. Strain tea. Warm one cup at a time. Lovely for children and adults.
