Strategic Plan

Written by Cathy-Ann Glockner and the Member Engagement Committee

The Co-op Board of Directors is responsible for developing a Strategic Plan to cover the upcoming three years.  This plan is developed through the lens of the Co-op’s Misson, Vision, and Values.  Based on this Strategic Plan, the Board and senior staff will create annual work plans based on defined goals and objectives for each year. The current plan was created in June of 2024  together with staff and the Board and will be used until May 31, 2027 with the Board reviewing the plan each year.

Our current plan has 5 Goals.  Each goal has Objectives which are statements that establish means for achieving the goal, Measurable Outcomes which are targets for each objective that are used to monitor how objectives are being achieved, and Activities which are practical steps to be taken to achieve the objectives.  There are two types of activities; Board-led activities and General Manager or Operational-led activities.

The first Goal is as follows:

Co-op members, staff and the community are empowered and engaged in our cooperative difference

The objectives that we have identified for this goal are broken down into 3 parts.

Part 1:  Is focused on making sure that our governance structure and strategic direction are clearly laid out and sustainable

Part 2: Our members, staff, and community understand the value that our co-op brings to our community.

Part 3:  We strive towards an excellent shopping experience for everyone.

The store has launched the “Co-op Difference” campaign led by our Marketing Director, Amanda Verigin. It is a comprehensive program aimed at education regarding how we differ from regular grocery stores and how that benefits the broader community. This is just one fabulous big project that has been implemented towards Goal 1.

Stay tuned as we provide you with more of our Strategic Plan goals in the future.

Please feel free to email the board if you have ideas which you feel may move us forward in achieving the goals of your co-op!
