Behind the Scenes: Our Produce Section Gets Re-stocked!
It takes a village to re-fill the entire produce department in a jiffy!
In November 2021, atmospheric rivers impacting the Lower Mainland in BC resulted in flooding and highways broken under the weight of massive landslides. Then for weeks, while the road crews were putting in all their efforts in clearing the highways and reconnecting our province, the fresh produce stock became slowly bare of any leafy greens as a result of huge disruptions to shipping.
Then in the last week of November, the first truck in many days came to deliver fresh produce to the Kootenay Co-op!
On that day, it was all hand on deck for your incredible Co-op staff who hustled over 6,700kg (14,800lb) of produce onto shelves and things were looking abundant again!
Thank you to all the road crews and to all the drivers for working to bring supplies to us all.
