Start with a solid hard flat surface. Wood is classic, but you could also build on your favourite large serving dish.

Drizzle glaze over your board to season – we use a balsamic glaze.

Lay down some greens – this acts as a non-slip surface so olives, crackers etc. won’t roll away – we use arugula.

Start building from the centre outwards adding in cheese, folded meats, olives/marinated veggies etc. Add your crackers/bread in at the end in different sections and fill in any remaining gaps with nuts, fruits, and other garnishes.

Use small ramekins or serving utensils to contain messier items, such as dips/oils/crumbly cheese.

Don’t overthink it – just start placing small piles of a variety of product on the board and watch the magic unfold!
