growing mushrooms in the garden

May 3 @ 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

- $35.00 – $55.00

Join mushroom farmer Robin Mercy of Mr. Mercy’s Mushrooms, for a fun and factual tutorial on growing King Stropharia aka Wine Cap mushrooms in outdoor beds. The afternoon will start with an overview of the mushroom lifecycle and some helpful ID tips before participants get dirty creating their own mushroom bed on-site. Everyone will leave with their own bag of spawn for starting a personal patch plus the knowledge to confidently grow, identify, and prepare this delicious and productive gourmet mushroom.

Participants will need to dress for the weather and also bring along clothes and sturdy shoes or boots that they don’t mind getting dirty.

Hosted by Robin Mercy

Robin Mercy is the owner of Mr. Mercy’s Mushrooms, a certified organic mushroom farm in Kaslo, BC. He found his way into cultivation by way of wild foraging, which he fell in love with over the course of a decade spent working in the forests of Interior BC. He loves sharing his passion for all things fungi, and continues to draw inspiration from the rich and complex ecosystems that surround us here in the Kootenays.
