Community Giving: February 2022 Grant Winners

The incredible people driving the organizations and initiatives in our community are a constant source of inspiration. Choosing only 3 community grant winners can be difficult when there are so many outstanding programs going on. So in February 2022, we chose 4! The following organizations received $500 grants.

  • Winlaw Fire Department for their fundraising towards a new extrication tool used in rescue operations after highway vehicle collisions
  • Selkirk College Foundation and their SOARS (Steps to Opportunities, Academics and Readiness) program for a Silver King campus garden and greenhouse project
  • Bee Awareness Society for their school education program which continues to build observation hives in schools as well as instill responsible land stewardship in our region

  • Youth Climate Corps for their initiative to empower youth to address the climate crisis and develop into the climate leaders of tomorrow

We were also thrilled to support the LVR Rotary Club in providing hygiene kits for people experiencing homelessness in Nelson.

As a member you make supporting these projects and organizations possible. We are so grateful for the hard-work + dedication of the people behind these initiatives – thank you for all you do to support and strengthen our communities.

The next community grant application deadline is May 1st  2022. Follow this link if you wish to apply for a community grant.
