Salt Blendz

Salt Blendz artisan sea salt seasonings are made in Winlaw BC by Brian Moisey and Kayla Gale. These flavorful seasonings incorporate as many local organic products as possible, and each jar is adorned with local Kootenay art. Salt Blendz is a delicious, healthful, and beautiful addition to your kitchen table!

Who are the makers at Salt Blendz?
Brian Moisey and Kayla Gayle.

I (Brian Moisey) have been making Salt Blendz since 2012. I recently welcomed my daughter-in-law Kayla Gale as my business partner. Kayla has worked in local farming for over 5 years and is currently expanding her own farm in the Salmo/Ymir valley. It is wonderful to be working alongside Kayla as she brings joy and fresh ideas to Salt Blendz.

Where are you located?
We both live in Salmo BC and we process Salt Blendz at the Valley Kitchen in Winlaw.

What do you make?
We make Gluten Free, all-natural artisan sea salt seasonings. Our motto is: TURN EDIBLE INTO INCREDIBLE!

We handcraft our seasonings in small batches using as many local organic products as possible. Our customers use their favourite flavour on meals and snacks as an alternative to their regular salt shaker.

What is in my Salt Blendz shaker that makes it so delicious?
All our products start with famous LePaludier hand harvested sea salt from Guerande France. This sea salt is soft on the palate, rich in flavour, and contains 82 trace minerals. Next, we add Red Star Nutritional Yeast, adding a boost of Vitamin B12 and the great flavour Salt Blendz is known for.

Salt Blendz produces 4 distinct flavours:

Kootenay Garlic : A milder, regional flavour, made with local Organic Garlic grown in the Kootenays.

Sesame Nori : Canadian Wild Harvested Nori from Bay of Fundy, toasted sesame seeds, organic local garlic.

Jalapeno Habanero: Okanagan peppers, local organic chives, local organic Garlic and Onion.

Ocean Edibles: Sourced from the icy, clean waters of Bay of Fundy, Canada. This sea-veggies blend is an amazing nutritional booster. It combines high-quality Dulse, Nori, Sea Lettuce, Wakame, Kombu, Longicruris, and Knotted Wrack flakes. These sea-veggies contain many natural vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and trace elements from the sea.

What motivated you to start making Salt Blendz?
A dream to create a healthier alternative to regular table salt.

What are some of your greatest joys?
Hearing such wonderful feedback and enthusiasm from communities throughout Western Canada that now use Salt Blendz daily.

What is your vision for your company?
To keep producing a high quality product that is affordable, supports local farmers, and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Salt Blendz also supports local Kootenay artists by featuring their artwork on the labels.

Why is local food and/or local purchasing important to you?
It supports local families and farms and improves overall well being by knowing your purchases make a difference.
